My graduate research (with Dr. Richard Prum) focuses on the evolution of avian adolescence, delayed reproduction, and delayed plumage maturation in birds. Why do some birds take 10 years to breed, despite being "fully grown" in their first year of life? The answer involves behavior, society, and sex.
