Social systems create new obstacles and opportunities for evolution, ecology, and conservation. I study how organisms evolve to face their social systems. (This is different than studying how social systems evolve). I am especially interested in a particular class of organisms: the youth.
My postdoctoral research (with Dr. Patricia Jones and the Bowdoin Scientific Station) addresses pair-bonds in imperiled storm-petrels.
My graduate research (with Dr. Richard Prum at Yale University) detailed the evolution of adolescence in seabird colonies and tropical leks.
I’m a big fan of American Herring Gulls.
My cardiologist confirms I am "in no acute distress."
