My postdoctoral research (with Dr. Patricia Jones and the Bowdoin Scientific Station) focuses on the ecological, evolutionary, and conservation consequences of seabird colonies and pair-bonds.

My graduate research (with Dr. Richard Prum at Yale University) focused on the evolution of avian adolescence, delayed reproduction, and delayed plumage maturation in birds. Why do some birds take 10 years to breed, despite being "fully grown" in their first year of life? The answer involves behavior, society, and sex.

My cardiologist says I am "in no acute distress."
