I study how long term evolution creates obstacles and opportunities for conservation, with a focus on the behavior and social systems of birds.

My postdoctoral research (with Dr. Patricia Jones and the Bowdoin Scientific Station) addresses pair-bonds in imperiled storm-petrels.

My graduate research (with Dr. Richard Prum at Yale University) detailed the evolution of adolescence in seabird colonies and tropical leks.

I’m a big fan of American Herring Gulls.

My cardiologist confirms I am "in no acute distress."
